Information About the Wallpapers :

Whenever it seems necessary, I make widescreen and regular aspect ratios, as well as PC and Mac-friendly variations on each image. (That means that the main portion of the art is on the right for PC and the left for Mac, so you have a chance of finding your icons. Some desktops are centered, and then I don't usually bother to make Mac and PC versions.) Samples are shown above to give you the general idea.

The sizes of the images were chosen after much consultation with our readers. They were designed to fit the widest range of computer monitors.

We've started trying out sizes for handheld devices and phones, the 1024x1024 and 600x800 sizes are good for ipads, iphones, and some e-readers.

About the Donation Gifts, or Why I Make These:

Right. We have this "Paypal: Donate" button on every page, and as Webmistress I feel a bit like I'm doing the Web equivalent of standing on the street corner with a cardboard sign. This sort of thing can make a small business owner kind of itch.
